Norman Spa FAQs

A spa is a professional establishment that offers services to enhance relaxation, beauty, and health. It’s a place where people pay for services that promote wellness, confidence, and body healing. Spas may offer different types of treatments. These often include:

  • Facials
  • Makeup services and other facial treatments
  • Massages
  • Aromatherapy
  • Body scrubs
  • Nail treatments

Most spas have a wide range of offerings in each category. For example, in the massage category, they might offer hot stone massages, deep tissue massages, acupressure, and more.

Many different things can happen at a spa, depending on what you’re going there for. If you’re looking for rest and relaxation, you may end up getting a massage or soaking in a mud bath. If you’re interested in acne reduction or hyperpigmentation treatment, you’ll likely undergo a facial or professional skincare treatment.

You’ll likely notice the serene, relaxing atmosphere the first time you visit a spa. You may hear soothing music playing in the background and smell various essential oils and skincare products. Someone at the front desk will greet you and ask what services you’d like to receive. It’s important to tell them it’s your first time there so they can bring you in for a professional consultation.

During your initial consultation, a provider will ask you questions about your overall health and any aesthetic concerns you may have. They’ll want to know what brought you to the spa and how they can help you have the best possible experience. This is a good time to inquire about service pricing and see if any current sales or promotions are happening.

At the end of your consultation, your provider will likely recommend one or more treatments based on your interests. Once you select a treatment, you’ll either be led back to the appropriate treatment area or instructed to schedule an appointment if all slots are currently filled up.

Generally, the best treatments for spa first-timers include facials, massages, pedicures, or manicures. It’s important to note that some treatments require you to fully or partially undress before putting on special clothing or lying under a massage blanket. Don’t worry, you don’t have to get completely naked if you’re uncomfortable! If you’re getting a massage, your therapist will be very sensitive to your comfort levels and will understand if you choose to keep your underwear on during treatment.

You should put on comfortable, loose clothing when going to the spa. Depending on your treatment, your skin may be more sensitive than normal after treatment. If so, you’ll be grateful you didn’t wear anything restrictive or uncomfortable during your appointment! For ease of dressing and undressing, wear open-toed sandals or slippers. We also recommend leaving jewelry at home. You won’t need it during your appointment; it will just get in your way.
